DIFFERENTIATING EMOTIONS FROM THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Many at time, people find it difficult differentiating  Emotional feelings from the Holy Spirit.

For Instance, at time the Holy Spirit ask us to do some certain things, and because our emotions becomes involved, we get excited and feel yes, about doing it. The emotional support helps us feel that God really want us to do the thing. We perceive the emotional support to be confirmation of God's will.

On the other hand, at times, God will move us to do some certain things, but because our emotions will not want

anything to do with what God want, they give no support at all. At those times it is harder to obey God. We are very dependent upon emotional support. if we lack understanding about the variable nature of emotions, Satan can use them - or lack of them - to keep us out of God's will. A person will never walk in God's will and utilamtely victory if he takes counsel with his emotions.

In psychology and philosophy, emotion is a subjective, conscious experience characterized primarily by psychophysiological expressions, biological reactions, and mental states. Emotion is often associated and considered reciprocally influential with mood, temperament, personality, disposition, and motivation.[1] It also is influenced by hormones and neurotransmitters such as dopamine, noradrenaline, serotonin, oxytocin, cortisol and GABA.

Emotion is often the driving force behind motivation, positive or negative.[2] An alternative definition of emotion is a "positive or negative experience that is associated with a particular pattern of physiological activity."Emotions come with great intensity. Most of us struggle with
our emotions. A thought may be put out of the mind; it is not necessarily so with a fearful emotion. When a person is filled with dread, the source may be a fearful thought or situation, yet the force of the emotions is what makes the individual preoccupied. We cannot flee from our feelings; therefore, we must deal with them

Just because we have a "feeling" we are supposed to give something away or not,  does not necessarily mean it is the will of God.

The Holy Spirit is God is clearly seen in many Scriptures, including Acts 5:3-4. In this verse Peter confronts Ananias as to why he lied to the Holy Spirit and tells him that he had “not lied to men but to God.” It is a clear declaration that lying to the Holy Spirit is lying to God. We can also know that the Holy Spirit is God because He possesses the characteristics of God. For example, His omnipresence is seen in Psalm 139:7-8, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” Then in 1 Corinthians 2:10-11, we see the characteristic of
omniscience in the Holy Spirit. “But God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a
man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.”
Emotions are meant to be managed by us, but not controlling us.
